The substitution is word-by-word and automatic. A Russian noun is inserted in its dictionary form, and the English sentence around it keeps the grammar; verbs and agreement are approximate by design. It exists to teach vocabulary through context, not to convey meaning precisely, and it can be wrong. Do not rely on it where the cost of a mistake is high.
The dictionary is built from Russian Wiktionary data, via the machine-readable extraction at kaikki.org, and is distributed under CC BY-SA 4.0. The frequency lists come from the FrequencyWords project, MIT licence. The derived dictionary is available under the same CC BY-SA 4.0 licence on request to the support address.
The app is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for indirect damages arising from the use of the app.
